PS2 Backup with GameShark

I just burned a dvd-r ps2 game as described in one of the tutorials but i cant get it to play? I am doing the gameshark swap were i run the game shark then open the tray and install the backed up game. Is that the problem or am i doing somthing wrong in the burn procces

To begin with try this boot method.

Open tray, put in gameshark, close tray
go to start game, without codes
then when it tells you to swap do it, and then press eject.
When you hear the electrons going and the disc spinning then click on "X" on your controll pad.

Try this out and let me know how it turns up.

What kind of modchip do you have?

As far as I know you have to have a chip unless you have swap magic discs and a slide card.

I have a Messiah 2 Pro. And yes you can also use swap discs for other various modchips. I personnally don't. I just put the backup in and it loads.

I have a V5 with one of those crappy Magic 3.0 chips. I'm getting a new V9 PS2 with a Messiah 2 Pro 1.33b after the holidays. My brother has a V7 and Messiah 2 Pro 1.30 and it is 10 times more reliable than my Magic chip.

Well here you go. Those who feel that Magic is better than Messiah then my friend Markbot has just told you that it's not with experience. Though the new magic V is pretty good, but I don't know if it's compatible with the new V9's.

To further clarify, the Messiah 2 Pro boots 100% of the time both PS1 and PS2 backups, originals, etc. Just by closing the drawer with the reset button.

75% of the time the Magic 3 chip does not boot backups on the first try. Plus you have to switch modes to play PS1 games by holding in the reset button and crossing your fingers.

Magic V costs $35
Messiah 2 Pro costs $65

No wonder why.

When playing ps1 games with messiah 2 pro you have to put the backup in and then put the ps2 on standby then press reset.
