Prodigy 449mb DVD single, is it possible to..

The Prodigy have a DVD single in the shops in the UK/Ireland..

The space used on the DVD is listed at 449mb, is it possible to copy this to a CD and have it play in a Standalone DVD player.. no particular love for the Prodigy, just a task to master and see how things go..

yes. Just use the DVD to VCD tutorial found here.
Basically you will rip the DVD to HDD with smart ripper or similar app & then encode it with software of you choice (though dvd2avi then tmpgenc is probs best choice).
Anyhow, have a look at the DVD to VCD tutorial & all will be good (unless you prefer an SVCD *but either way you have to make sure your standalone DVD player supports VCD or SVCD playback).
Good luck

As above, but you could also use Nero to do a DVD to CDR direct copy. This will make a miniDVD, as they are called. Naturally you will need a DVD reader in your PC.

The problem is very few DVD Players can playback miniDVD's, okay on the PC though. For best I would convert to SVCD (follow the Tutorial) and you will be able to play on most DVD players then and will still be 1 CD also.

Thanks for your replies, I've been ripping and encoding DVD's a few weeks now, thanks to some fine tutorials on this forum and at vcdhelp..

Shadoe, I was angling more towards Chickenman's idea, a change of medium (DVD to CD) but not of the format, I just thought that because the amount of data was less than a CD, some sort of trickery could be performed in just dumping the files (keeping the file layout) onto the CD and duping a Standalone into playing it..

As I said, a direct DVD to CD 1:1 could probably be done but might not play on your DVD Player. Do a test burnt to a CDRW first.

Alternatetivly, rip the WHOLE DVD to your HD with Smart Ripper and then burn these back to a CDR with Nero. SmartRipper can strip out the Macrovision and Region coding as well. Just make sure you the DVD contents have been ripped to the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders on your HD the same as they are on the DVD.
