Probs with .vob files and dvd2one.

Hi guys, Ive been watching this forum from the side, but this is my first post on here, so be gentle...

Firstly, Im using a Sony DW-U10A +/- writer, on win XP.
Im ripping the files from an original using DVD decrypter, and this is where I have a few Q's, can I then burn the .vob files in the VIDEO_TS folder back to the dvdr if its less than 4.3gig?
If they are more than 4.3gig, I then use dvd2one to compress them, and then use IMGtool to burn them(as its the only burning tool that recognises the drive), but once burned back to disk, its self starting with no menu, why is this?
Im trying to make a dvd copy with a menu, but not with all the extras.

Hi m8

When you say your ripping the files with DVDdecrypter are you selecting the whole movie, extras n all or just the main movie, if its just the main movie and its under 4.3Gb you will still have to transcode the files with DVD2one.

To make a menu with the VIDEO_TS folder use TMPGEnc DVDauthor, its really easy to use, just make sure that in the create menu section, firstplay action tab is set to display main menu, thus when you insert the movie you will get the main menu 1st.

Thanks tommyis3, but I couldnt wait for a reply, so I burnt the files I ripped from the original, without converting/transcoding them, and it seems to work fine.
And to my amazement, I have the menu, with no extras, but had I used dvd2one, it would have gone stright into the movie, without the menu, from previous experience, because it seems to delete some of the ripped files.

Also, I would like to know, once Ive ripped the main files, and its say 3.3gb, then how can I tell what other files are that are extras, just to fill the disk up.
eg, what Im after is a viewer, to see what the files are on the original, and rip them too.

i'm new to dvd burning and sofar i used DVD Shrink 3.0 Beta .. it has an internal viewer and in re-author mode it gives me the option what i want to have on my backup dvd . i burned a few backups and all of them are around 90 % compression and seem to be exact copy's of the original . i do the burning with ImgTool Burn ( u only have to point to the folder where the ripped files are and imgtool does the rest )

i guess if u just want backup's these 2 tools work just fine , i'm very happy with dvd shrink and i think its a kickass program

oh btw , i got the same sony and clonedvd and princo dvd-r media will not work , princo's and imgtool work just fine .

and didn't i read somewhere that the dwu 10 can be flashed with the firmware of the sony 500a something ( and it then can write dvd+rw at 4 x ? )
