well i have a bootleg windows version of xp i have used a key generator to get a key that wasn't devils own, i have even formated my computer and reinstalled everything back up again but still i cannot download from windows update cause they ahve blocked my ip number? if so is there a way to hide it?

I don't think they blocked your IP number (more likely got your NIC mac # which you really can't get around lol). If ip though, try going through proxies.
I don't have a problem downloading/updating from them yet (cross fingers) so I know it doesn't have to do really with the fact of having devils-own (if things are fixed in it properly).
Try downloading XP-Anti-Spy & check your firewall settings. If set to stealth mode or something like that, then you won't be able to update from msn like that.

Again, I do not believe M$ would do that. Blocking IP's is rather drastic measures even for them! Personally, I just tried an update and it is working.
Strange though that another person is having the same problem. Follow the advice and try try again!

how about updating through the WINDOWS UPDATE CATALOG(/http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp?corporate=true) ? this seems to be more convenient to me, as (unlike live update) you can choose and save the updates to a place of yr choice for later use. TIP : choose FIND MICROSOFT WINDOWS UPDATES or FIND HARDWARE DRIVER UPDATES from the left panel, select and d'load.
