problems with win media player in xp

i installed divx 5 but since then i can only play a few divx movies on my pc. I could play all of them before i installed divx 5. however on uninstalling divx 5 it has made no difference.

sound plays ok but i get a grey screen where the video should be
i have tried system restore but that cant restore to the time b4 installation and i have tried other players and codecs ie powerdvd the divx player and powerdivx all without change.
i have even installed the nimo 44 codecs but no luck there also

i have tried win media player 7.1 in win98 and its all ok on there so how can i get it to play again in XP

Which version of DivX 5 did you install ? Did you have to crack it ?

Tru installing DivX Codec 3.11a and overwrite any files it may find as newer. Get it from doom9.net

Interested to know if mustard is running a dual boot OS system?

I think there is a bit of a problem with it on a dual OS system ChickenMan. I found on all my dual boot OS systems the DivX codecs have problems, but on a PC with just one OS setup there was none. Maybe just my bad luck, but that's what I've observed so far. (perhaps mustard just doesn't have 5pro cracked right yet)
