Problems with Office XP

Hi again experts,
I noticed the other day that Microsoft Word (Office XP) crashed every time I try to paste something in from other sources, eg Internet Explorer. After numerous reinstalling it still did it. So I try to download and install Service Pack 1 for Office XP, but it fails every time I try to install it. What can I do next? Advice appreciated!

Totaly unknown experience! Using OfficeXP for a long time, without any service packs and don't have problem like yours

Not having any Office crashes for the last 2.5 years- I am using OpenOffice, which performs like clockwork... oh, and by the way it is quite cheap at ZERO dollars.
