I purchased a CD burner a few days ago for backing up my HDD.
Nero Burning ROM software came with the drive.
I burned my CD-Rs successfully. It took 7 CD-Rs to backup my small 4.3GB HDD. Then I formatted my HDD.
Now when I try to restore my backup in DOS using
NRESTORE.EXE, I receive an error "Could not open the
messages file: nres_eng.msg".
I created my Boot floppy using Windows98 to ensure I have all
the necessary drivers as recommended. I verified that I can read (dir) my CD ROM drive.
And I see the "nres_eng.msg" file is on my backup disk.
So, I'm not sure what else to do? It seems like there may be some DOS driver
file missing from my Boot floppy, but again, I can read the CD-R disk.
I contacted Nero support, but they are not very responsive.
I would appreciate any help or direction you can provide. As you can
imagine, just about all my personal data is lost.
Regards,
bop
