I had a 105 with ver 1.33 hacked software and it worked fine for dvd. Try reflashing the drive. The firmware I used was gradius. Try it and see what happens. If that don't work send it back, you may be lucky if it's under 1 year old.

Pioneer DVR-105 solution Found

Found a solution to the prob went out and bought a new Pioneer DVR-105
£125. This one better last a bit longer !
Thanks to all for the advice

Pioneer 105

I was advised against a 106 cos of the software support for it is a bit limited some of the stuff that I’ve got will not work with it such as DVD Decrypter / Prassi PrimoDVD /SmartRipper.
Where as I have all the software that I know works with the105.
Now I no I should have asked first so pleas don’t tell me it works just the same as a 105 and that I could use the same software.
Because it’s blown me head up having to spend that sort of money never mind being a tight fisted Yorkshire man. Any way I’ve got me woman out selling here arse to PAYE for it

Not sure about PrimoDVD (latest Pxengine updates don't work on that outdated stuff...), but its big brothers (RecordNowDX or Max) certainly work great with the A06, and Decrypter/Smart ripper have absolutely no issues with it.

Pioneer DVR-105

Well I suppose that’s a very expensive lesson to learn when you don’t ask the right question in the right forum. You have to look at it in a positive light cos I don’t wont another dint in the wall where I’ve been banging me head !

107 for £115 at blankdiskshop.co.uk.

If I were you I may think about taking the 105 back to the shop with a "fault". I've heard, but would not do this myself as it's wrong, that runing a 12 volt battery charger across the IDE pins would cause a fault. After being charged £125 some people would consider it.

105 problems

If you wont a laugh get hold of pioneer and ask them how much to repair your 105.
I did.
Once you send it to them if its out of warranty they will prepare a quote if you don’t wont them to repair your drive they will charge you to the tune of 47 quid.
If you wont them to repair it will cost £120 for a pickup I assume this is the laser if it’s the Maine bored that’s £150 plus they will charge 47 quid an hour labour.
