PLEASE HELP: Problems with DVD Shrink loading files produced by DVD Stripper

Hi,

I am a newbiw to all this and therefore apologize if the following is trivial for some of you and has been discussed before.

I am using DVD Shrink 3.1.7 and the latest DVD Stripper.

Here is the problem. The original DVD is big (about 8.3 gigs) and so even DVD Shrink could not shrink it to 1 DVD. Therefore< I tried using DVD Stripper to take out certain Items to reduce the size with the idea of then of using this output with DVD Shrink and then going ahead with the standard process of burning etc.

I could successfully go through the DVD Stripper process. I took out certain items but did not touch the menu section. Then I started DVD Shrink and pointed it to the folder containing the Video_Ts and Audio_Ts folders created by DVD Stripper. Immediately DVD Shrink produced an error message saying something to the effect of " DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Failed to read file “D:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_03_1>VOB”

I checked in the Video_ts folder and there was no Vts file like that.

Now couple of clarifications:

- I have successfully used this installation of DVD Shrink with DVD Decrypter alone (i.e. without using DVD Stripper) and everything worked fine with other DVD's
- I have set the option to 'Region Free'
- I could run some of the files in the Video_ts folder through the Power DVD player

So, the point is that I am not being able to proceed with DVD Shrink after using DVD Stripper.

Can someone shed light on what wrong steps I may be taking or what needs to be done? Why is DVD Shrink looking for a Vts_03 file when that is not produced by DVD Stripper and while there are other Vts files in the Video_ts folder.

Any help will be much appreciated. thank you

Hi AXB,
Are you sure that you are pointing shrink at the right folder? By the way, the audio folder is empty so no use pointing at it. I've not had any problems shrinking over 9GB into 1 disk..... the only sacrafice is the resolution you get because of how far it needs to be compressed to get it to fit on one dvd. Set shrink to "auto". Are you hitting "process" at the end of your item removal? You can also re-author and back-up the movie only if you like. It really sounds as if you're pointing shrink at the wrong folder.

ISO mode in decrypter ?

Is it me, or is getting decryter to work in anything but ISO mode a major pain and not explained very well? I was just reading chicken man's info on getting shrink to see decrypter after using in file mode and I'm sure that will work fine but why Isn't that explained else where in this forum and why not just use it in the way easier to use ISO mode? When I use the ISO mode it makes a nice tidy package ISO folder with a little picture of a disk, but still getting shrink to find the path is a pain and also not explained very well in anything I have read on the this subject. What works for me is to rename the path in the same directory as the original ISO "while in shrink" from decrypter and being careful not to change the name that decryter made for the ISO file just ad the word "AFTER SHRINK" to the end of the ISO file name but keep it in the same folder, looking something like this ...C:\SONY.ISO as the name the decrpter picked to name the ISO file then just adding \AFTER SHRINK the name here does'nt matter as long as you ad something to the end of C:\SONY.ISO then shrink can see the file. This works great for me too bad it's not explained very well and most directions I have seen only tell you to use the file mode which makes it tough for shrink to see the files for whatever reason. Oh and by the way once I got the file path ways correct the use of these two freeware products is very impressive indeed and the regulators here are more than helpful and generous with their time, MackemX and chickenman you guys ROCK! Thanks for your help :)
