Problems with dvd-r's

I got a problem. It's spelled DVD-R's.
The problem is that my dvdplayer only plays half of the movie. After that it's stuck in some loop .. And i don't have a clue of whats wrong..
DVD+R's are running just fine. Even with the same .img burned.
But the -R's gives up after half the movie.
My standalone dvdplayer is a Mustek 560 and my burner is a LG..
I have tried to burn the dvd-r's with 1x and then i could see one more chapter without errors..

Does anyone have an advice ?
Or any clue of what's wrong ?

(i) Do they play on your PC?
(ii) Brand of DVD-R

1. Upgrade firmware, if feasible.
2. Try another media brand. Ritek are fine all-purpose DVD-R blanks.

Any more information required ? ..

firmware upgrade wasn't availible atm ..

But since the dvd worked on the computer i guess it's something wrong with the standalone dvd ?

But shouldn't it either be working or not working ? .. Why does the half movie work ? ..

Had similar probs with oneoptical discs which had the lead data ID
Threw them all away and carried on using Riteks as I should never have tried the cheap lead data ones.
The discs looked like they burnt fine but in reality they werent.
