problems With big sized movies. please help

Beginner as I am I use "Imtoo dvdripper" cause smartripper/dvd2svcd was to complicated for me......

I try to convert the fellowship of the ring extended version (3h and 20min. long, split up on 2 DVD) to svcd format and then I want to burn it out on 80min cdr's.

But when the conversion of these 2 DVD’s is finished the whole movie will take around 6 80min cdr's. (each file have the size 789mb)
Is this normal? Because when i looked up the movie in svcd/mpg format on direct connect it was split up in just 4 cdr's. How does this come?

Well somewhere in the program there should be a bitrate or filesize setting, you would need to lower the output filesize or bitrate so that it is 4CDR's.

there is five alternatives in the size/bitrate settings to choose between and they are: 74min vcd, 80min vcd, 74min iso data cd, 80min iso data cd and "custom" where you can type in yourself how many MB every file should contain.

what's seems to be the best?

Well if you select 80min VCD then shouldn't you also get an option to select the number of CD's? Otherwise I guess all that setting would control is what size chunks it gets split in.

no it just says 80min vcd....

Well then there should be another setting for bitrate, because without specifying the number of CD's as I said it can only control the size it splits to.

then maybe I should use the "custom" setting and type in the size by my self, like 800mg on each file or something like that

If you used custom and set 800MB then presumably you would get 5x800MB's and 1 slightly less. You need to change the bitrate somewhere or set the number of CD's. If the software doesn't have such an option then you either need to use a different program or accept that fact that it is going to take 6 CD's.

ok. there is no particular option to type in how many cds its gonna take
but I will try it out a little and see if I find a solution. If it doesn't work I will try other softwares
