hi,

i have just finished chickenmans tute and just used TMPGEnc to author the dvds files and it finished and it made the folder too big to fit onto a dvd.

the folder that SVCD2DVD created is 9 gb big and the folder that TMPGEnc created is 4.39 GB (4,722,438,144).

i have tried to use dvd shrink to bring the file down but i get an error from it saying that it cannot read the VOB files.

Also i tried to use virtual dub to put two avi files together and i got this error...see pic...

Hope someone can help me with these problems....Cheers :D

Did you convert the AVI audio to AC3 or was it origianlly AC3? Are you sure you used the Bitrate for the audio that was tthe same as the avi's ac3 (if it was ac3)? Was the size (in mB) of the *.mp2 file and the *.ac3 file the same ?

Also in the Bitrate Tab windows, what bitrate valus did you enter and what was the CD Size you entered?

I also eddited your pic a bit so it wasnt distoring the window.

To fix the joining problem, load first avi into VD, set Video to Direct Stream copy and audio to Full processing mode. Then Save AVI. Do the same fore the second AVI then they will join together. This basically converted the audio to a WAV form for both avi's

the mp2 audio is smaller than the .ac3 file...the avi was already ac3 so i just set the audio bitrate to 384....

i set the cd size 2 4400....

shall i convert the mp2 file to ac3 then use that ac3?

hope u can tell me....thanks...

AC3-->m2-->AC3 is a bad idea, quality wise anyway.

Looks like it is an XviD encode using bframes without packed bitstream enabled. Don't think that I have ever seen an actual XviD release from a proper group that used bframes. You might want to trim the first frame to get rid of message; trim(1,0).

I would down sample the original AC3 to an AC3 at 224 bitrate (but will now be just Stereo). You can use ffMPEG to do this. See the Audio to AC3 Tute on where to download it. Then reathor.

i just converted the mp2 madeby svcd2dvd to ac3 using ffMPEG and then re-authored it using TMPGEnc and when i went to burn it failed on 17% due to a write error..

what could be wrong?

Sounds like you have more than one problem. If the burn failed you have a problem with your Burning Software, Burner, Media or Windows setup. It has nothing to do with your conversion/authoring.

hey not sure if this will help but what the hey! i had a prob b4 converting avi to dvd, what i found that work was, using virtualDUB - go to file open video, then choose the film u want to burn, then file again and to save wav this coppys the audio in a seperate file so theres no audio sequence problems, then using TMPGEnc load the film in the video slot and then audio in the section below (audio slot  ) then hit start, this will creat a mpeg file ready for u to burn!
