Problems viewing burned DVD-R on stand alone

Just purchased the Pioneer external DVR-s606 and ripped a DVD. It plays fine on my DVD-ROM drive but when I popped it into my Toshiba stand alone, it played all garbled and scrambled. Any ideas?

How did you rip it and what programs did you use? I sounds like copy protection to me.

I used the Ulead Movie Maker that came with the drive and the file itself is a 1.2 gig mpeg file.

How old is the Toshiba? If it's a first or second generation dvd player it may not play blank dvds correctly.

The DVD player is a about 4-5 years old but I've had no problems playing other ripped DVD's on it. Just the one I burned today.

Its an SD 2150. Does that mean time to get a new one?
