Problems Making Dvd From Avi Converted To Mpeg & Backing Up Via Various S'ware

I have recently got myself a DVD RW and its fine physically.

I have read Chickenmans threads on making avi's into Mpegs and then copying them via nero to DVD. So i go tru the motions like u do. All is fine im thinkning. Then my DVD player spits it out and does nothing, obviously its not compatlible me thinks. I then use a Shop Bought copied DVD of a live music event promo i have (Minus format) and that works fine so i know its no the DVD player.

My specs and setup:

2600 Athlon
1Gig 400Mhz RAM
80GIG SPACE

NEC 2500A DVD-WRITER 8X +&- (Both)

Media: Bulq-paq oranges Minus R's



I have used more Programs than there are people in china and i still cant get it to work (I have also tried the disks on 4 differnt dvd players at friends houses with RW + - u name it disks and nothing still)

WTF AM I DOING WRONG...ALL I KNOW IS I HAVE SOME LOVELY LOOKING COASTERS TO REST MY BEER ON!

Thanks for the comments and welcome to the forum.

Your problem probably lies with the ultra cheap Bulq-paq DVDR's you have. The NEC appears quite picky with media, particularly cheap low quality brands. Suggest you get some Ritek -R's and burn to them instead.

You may be correct...i can watch the dvd on my NEC Writer on the PC but on DVD players it just hates them...I will get some riteks...are these likely to work or is it a shot in the dark from your experience?
Also i have copied a Backup of a DVD already with the Bulqpak and it worked ok...I think it might be something im doing software wise or copywright perhaps

If U try Ritek (with G04 Dye) & they dont work U can be pretty certain its NOT a Media Problem

I have ordered a pack of 25 Ritek G04'S with the Dye stuff or whatever. only cost 16 quid delivered so i will know what the problem is soon...Please feel free to keep on posting stuff here.
