Sometimes windows media player just can't play divX files. I have that problem sometimes (especially with the ones I make). I found it to be mainly on dual boot systems (not sure if you have that same setup).
However you should be able to play your DivX movies with the playa that installs itself with DivX. Try it & see if it works with it. If it does, then you know for sure it is just a windows media player problem.
