Hi all,

Hopefully someone will be able to help me as the bods of at LG have ignored my many requests of help.

[Problem] DVD player can read CD's, CDR's CDRW, DVD, DVDR and finally DVDRW BUT it cannot read DVD Game disks. All I get is the disk whirring up, led light stable then click click click click click etc and led light flashing.

I have tested the dvd game on my laptop and it works fine so its not the game. The question is if my dvd can read the above surely it should be able to read the dvd game disks? All the dvd games are original versions bought from a large reputable dealer.

Ive included my system specs here just in case its a compatability problem.

AMD 64 +3200
Ati 9800 pro
2Gb Ram
Audigy 2
2 120Gb SATA HDD
Liteon 40x12x48 CDRW
LG 8161B DVD <<<<< Problem
Win XP Pro sp1.

Any help would be great.

Cheers i advance

Have you updated the firmware in your LG ? If not, then I would suggest you do so.

I assume the LG can read all other DVD's (games & movies) your put into it, just not this 1 partticular game DVD.

Hi, it can read all DVD films, CD's of any kind except DVD Games this applies to all games I have purchased.

I know its not the games as they have and still can be read and installed on my laptop..

Many thanks I will try the latest firmware available but it says its for DOS only, will this make any difference as they are windows based games??

Newer firmware tends to improve readability of CD/DVD's, being so-called DOS based just means it needs to be installed via DOS, has absolutely nothing to do with the games being Windows, DOS, Linux or anything else.

And when it says DOS ONLY, that means BOOT TO DOS - never try to run a DOS firmware update in a DOS session within windows, it's NOT CLEAN ENOUGH.

The best way, is to use a DOS boot floppy (or if no floppy drive, a DOS boot CD, but NOT in the drive you are updating, as that's very likely to kill the drive).
