Problem with PowerDVD

I have windows XP with SP1 installed and PowerDVD deluxe 4 1811. Everytime i try to play a DVD, PowerDVD "looses" frames. My DVD is a Pioneer 106s. I also have 2 Hard disks and a CD Recorder. When i removed one of the mentioned comonents and used the DVD drive as a single device in the ide channel, DVD playing became smoother but not as it should be. I have a celeron 700mhz, 256mb ram, geforce 2 mx400 and a motherboard with Via chipset. Any help?

i don't know if your GF2MX is using hardware decoding for MPEG2 (take a look in the PowerDVD options); maybe your system is not fast enough for soft decoding in real time; :confused:

nevertheless try this:
install the latest VIA4in1 chipset drivers, reeboot;
activate DMA/UDMA mode for your drives, reeboot;

I have also disabled all the apps in the background. I think that the specifications of my computer are enough for software decoding. Maybe Windows XP is not the right Os for the cpu memory and graphics card that i have. If you have any other ideas please let me know. I will try DVDIdle in the next few days. If someone has tried this program could he tell us his impressions? Maybe it isn't very safe to use the hard disk so much. Thanks!!
