My cdrw LiteOn 52246S has a big problem because I think that the EEPROM of the dvdrw LiteOn 811S was put over the original.

Doesn't work at all.

Someone can help me?

please mail me. I'm learning... by the worst way
Thanks

Hello again

The problem:

with ltnflash 1.24 I put the eeprom of dvdrw 811S in the place ot the original eeprom of the cdrw.
Now I put a cd in the drive and it doesn't work!!!!

I'm trying to put the original eeprom in the place again but I don't have a backup. And I don't know where to find it and if it is worth it.

thanks

If you have overwritten the eeprom and you dont have a backup you could try another drives(same make of course).
Get hold of someone with the same drive and have them extract and send you theirs. If the new eeprom comes from a drive that has similar calibration it MIGHT work.
You will never get it back in the shape it was though and extensive testing with kprobe is strongly adviced.
I have done this once with a ltr-48125w and the drive is still working, gives some c1 spikes and higher that usual c1 errors rates and successful overburning is a longshot at best.
If however you need to do accurate burns of imortant data, get a new drive.
:)

@ ROADY ya know i think ya could be right there bud !? :)

accidents happen he needs to find the exact firmware and an easy guide on how to !?

surely this can be fixed with the correct firmware ?!

Here is a backup eeprom of my drive....no guarantees that it will give your drive back it's former capabilities,but you can at least make your drive working again :)

i think you got a bundle uf usefull answers allready;
scarecrow provided the link to the official firmware
and Master donated a link where you can get a usefull DOS flasher (mtkflash);

personally i don't believe it will work correctly after flashing back; but it's worth a try, and it will increase the chance of a warranty replacement; :D

Indeed, that's the main point- I also believe that some sort of damage must have happened to the drive. But sending for replacement a CDRW drive which malfunctions and has a DVDRW firmware put in has rather few chances to work... :p

And after all, with all jokes aside (as if! :D ) , a new 52X Litey only costs about £20 anyway so not exactly a major catastrophe really.

But don't do it again as now you know it does not work! :D
