Problem with "enable long path names" installing NAV 2003

Its driving me nuts. I downloaded NAV 2003, and when it was installing, it said it couldn't use Live Update, as something about long path names being disabled, and the need to enable it. Fine but HOW ? I have experimented with tools-folder options -view etc but cant find anything to do with long path names.

Can anyone help me out ? :(

PS - it runs, by the way - fine, actually. But its no use without live update. :( :( :(

Read something about a hoax virus named

Sulfnbk.exe

This is a virus hoax, that may result in problem with Long File Name.

Read about it on F-secures swedish site.

It may cause problems with long file names.
Maybe this is your problem

I might be way off here:D but if ur using ntfs u might be able to use Xteq-X-Setup to enable 8+3 filenames.

"If "Create 8+3 filenames" is activated (default), Windows also creates a 8+3 filename for each file. Only 16-bit apps will need those 8+3 names, so if you don't have any legacy programs you can properly deactivate this option"

All interesting stuff here ! :) (Baffling in some cases to a nice simple soul like me ! :D) But I'll certainly have a little fiddle around with these ideas ! thanks, gents ! ;)

But the answer was on the Symantec site itself. It was a case of going into the registry (cue sweating buckets - just like cutting the wires on an unexploded bomb !!!) :D

But it has loaded as it should have at first ! ;)

Daft thing is, I've booted it straight off too ! I couldn't get the e-mails to work and my comp slowed down to an arthritic crawl, so I've taken it off. I'm sure the fault lies with me and not NAV 2003. I have had bother with all other anti-virus, and I'm damned if I know whats causing it. Still.....:p ;)
