Problem with DVD+RW and NEC 1100A

Hi,
Shortly i bought myself a NEC 1100A DVD+R/+RW writer
I use Nero version 5.10.28 software
When i write to CD-R or CD-RW no problem
When i write to DVD+R, also no problems
But, when i try to write data to a DVD+RW i've got problems

Nero is starting to format the disk (why..???)
and afther a short period the process is stopped giving me a error
I'ts saying Illegal Medium error ??

I use Platinum Multispeed DVD+RW
Speed is 2,4

When i check the media its saying DVD+RW Empty disk 4483 Mb
available..

What is going wrong, how can i cure this problem ??

I also have exactly the same problem with the same burner using verbatim DVD+RWs. I burned once to them and then tried to burn another image over it with DVD decrypter (which it looked as if it did) then the PC (explorer and other software) will not recognise disc in drive.

If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated.

u tried to burn another image onto the dvd+rw without erasing it first?

yes, although I though decrypter automatically formatted the disc.

An update on things I've tried:

Installed ASPI layer. Made the drive recognisable but when I tried to erase decrypter and others said the drive was write protected.

uninstalled all dvd / cd software and reinstalled decrypter to start again.. no joy.

Finally flashed the drive with new firmware 10GE and now I'm back to the orignal problem with no programs recognising the discs (+RW only)

Any ideas anyone????

what programs have u tried using to erase the dvd+rw besides dvd decrypter? i've heard that dvdinfopro can sometimes erase dvds that other programs can't.

Problem with Nec 1100A

I never did find the real problem
But i was lucky, my retailer has changed my NEC 1100A for a 1300A because he also did'nt find the problem. This 1300A works very nice without denying any brand of media. Also can i use now the -R types DVD medis
And all off this without any extra payment !!

I have also tried DVD Info pro to erase but that also says no media present. I am now trying to get an exchange unit from Dell (where I bought my pc) hopefully an up graded model as well!!
