problem with avi xvid playback

hi,

i dl this movie which is an xvid coded movie; when i played, the picture is shaking like crazy but the sound seems ok; i wonder if anyone has encountered the same problem; i guess since sound is good but picture is not might fit in the audio/video sync issue, but i dont know; i have played other xvid encoded movies before without problem.

Thanks for any help.

sounds like a bad rip and encoding from the person that did it....find another copy is all i can tell ya

umm, i have installed xvid codec; i dont know about the setting and version etc...; i have been able to watch xvid movies in the past without problem until this particular movie.

Which build though (it will have a date in the about box)? The movie you have may have been encoded with some of the more experimental settings such as bframes, qpel, etc. If you have an old decoder then it would have problems.

New XviD builds are released all the time, if you installed an XviD codec some time ago (esp. as part of some codec pack) then it is most likely just out of date.

chickenman, i will install this new svid codec; do i have to reboot for it to take effect?

edit: no i dont have to reboot, and yes it works like a charm chickenman!!! :) thumbs up for u sir :) thanks a lot

so, i guess it's an outdated codec that i have, that's all.
