problem with ACDSEE 4

More than 6 gigs of pics on one of my HDs. Some of the pics are 18Mb big. ACDsee 3.1 handles all of them in a snap. Also COmpupic. I never had a problem of many pics in a dir with ACDsee 3.1
The key is to avoid the dreadful thumbnail database. If you have hundreds of files, this database grows like a cancer. Avoid that, and set the thumb to the lowest quality.
Coasterilla is right about Compupic. If you scan hundreds of pics a day, like me, Compupic is a must. But the lightbox plugin in ACDSee 3.1 is a very useful tool for me, as it helps me to handle all the images.

Old app

I remember I had an old app which works very well, it was woth an old scanner mustek.. It's called Iphotoplus., It was very very easy, and he has a browser with thumbnail like acdsee.

viewers and the like

Thanks guys you`ve gone and done it again !
I have used IrfanView for years (also ACDsee, but stuck with v2.41) but after finding out here about Compupic, I tried it and its superb:D
98% (it would get 100% if it could load photoshop 3.0 files)

Acdsee 4.xx is slow and annoying as hell to use. I went back to version 3.1 and am very happy :)

compupic and irfanview are nice but they don't hold a candle to cdsee 3.1 as far as I am concerned...
