Hello all,

I've been having pretty good luck d/ling avi's and converting them to vcd 's. However lately after d/ling the avi's when I try to bring them into TMPGE the program crashes

"This program has perfromed an illegal operation and will be shut down"

TMPGENC caused an exception 10H in module MPG4DMOD.DLL at 0167:07ee56ed.

Course I have no idea what the above is about, I've just included it for reference. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

Could it be that you don't have the right divx codec installed for your downloaded divx.avi ...

Sometimes it is necessary to have f.e. 4.12 also (not only 5.0.x).

That has nothing to do with normal playability but with special decoding issues.

Thanks,

I'll try getting the codec's and keep you updated on the results.

Dont forget to strip the audio out with virtual/nan dub.
I used to get a very similar error occasionally when I didnt do this.
I now do it every time and no more errors for me!

Dont forget to strip the audio out with virtual/nan dub.
You mean strip the audio out first before I load it into TMPGE? And then combine that Stripped out audio with the video file in TMPGE to encode the AVI to MPEG?

I'll try that also if installing the codecs doesn't work. Hopefully I can try these suggestions tonight.

Thanks,
Rob

Tried all your suggestions to no avail.

Then by trying out different encoding programs I finally got a error that meant something to me. By using Honestech 3.0 I got a error stating that the AVI's were compressed with mp43.

So...off I went and to make a long story short loaded the Nimo Codec Pack and now the files load into TMPGE.

I'm going to try a test file now.....yipppeee.

Thanks for all your help,
Rob
