Problem w/erasing Dvd-rw on Pioneer 106

I just got the pioneer dvr-106d. I also have the 103 for a couple of years, it's been great. My 2 problems with the dvr-106, 1st i didn't think before hand. Most of the dvd apps I use don't support it. (primo dvd, nero 5.5, etc.) I was able to get the new version of nero and roxio to work. The big problem I have is with erasing dvdrw's. I bought a 5 pack tdk dvd-rw 2x. If i try to use any of those apps to erase the disc, it stops about half way. It ejects the disc and all the programs state that the disc is empty, but you can clearly see a big ring of data. The only way to get this off is to use the full erase only on nero 6, which takes 30 mins. I have a couple of dvdrw's 1x, that i use with my a03, erasing them only takes 2 mins. I don't think i ever had to do a full. If anyone knows any info they can give me, or if there is a better way, or if you think this is a problem. Please reply. I'm going nuts trying to figure this out.

to the first: Welcome to our forum!

to the 2nd: just take a look in Nero's help file; :)

quick erase: only the table of content will be erased; the disc contains still the data; data can be restored with recovery tools like Arrowkey's CD/DVD Inspector; the old data will be overwritten during next burning session;

full erase: table of content and the data area will be overwritten by a pattern of zeros and ones;

Thanks for the reply. The only I want to know, is if anyone knows that this is normal or not? I just think 30 mins, is an awful long time to erase. I don't know if it is because it's 2x media, or just the media itself. I want to get a dvd+rw 2.4 and see how well that works.

it's fully normal that you still be able to see the data track with your eyes, but the programs and Windows reports the disc is empty;

this time is also fully normal for a full erase;
you don't need to do the full erase, because every full erase (= additional/useless burning cycle) is one step nearer to sectors/medias death;
