problem - sonic my dvd, nec nd1100a

New guy here...please go easy on me...

I'm trying to burn a dvd using sonic my dvd v3, and my nec DVD+RW nd1100-a. I've done it before using this same program with no problems. All of a sudden now, I get prompted to insert a disc into the D: drive, even though i've put the correct blank compatible dvd. It just keeps saying "insert disc into drive D:".

Please help!!

This D: drive works normally with all other programs on my Dell 8200. Never had any problemsl

Welcome to the forum!

Normally errors like this one are caused by conflicts created by installing other software. Not really sure on your solution.Try reinstalling or repairing Sonic.Repair option may be available in the uninstall routine. If you know of any new dvd software you have installed recently you could also try uninstalling it.

Creating a restore point before adding software may help in some cases. Then if things go wrong you can go back. ;)

still not working!

anyone have any ideas? i uninstalled and re-installed sonic my dvd and it still says "insert media" when a blank compatible disc is sitting in the drive. the drive functions perfectly otherwise. i don't know of any conflicting dvd software on my computer.

thanks!

Help!

originally had a +RW drive and Sonic My DVD 3.0 worked fine. I upgraded to the NEC +R/+RW, and I was actually able to use 3.0 for awhile. Here's another weird thing: PCFriendly was installed onto my computer when a children's DVD was played. Since then 3.0 has not worked with either the new NEC drive OR the original +RW drive that came with the computer. I uninstalled PCFriendly and un/reinstalled 3.0 and in still says "insert blank media" when ready to burn. Even weirder: PCFriendly is made by Sonic!

Have you tried using a restore point from before PCFriendly was installed?

Search of keywords - "No Media in Drive" when trying to burn - with selection of product - MyDVD - at Sonic's Knowledge Base http://support.sonic.com/kb.htm will yeild some suggestions - don't know if they'll help.
