Sorry if this has been addressed before-I couldn't find any hits with the search function.
I have a Pioneer DVR-106 installed on a Dell Dimension 8100 running WinXP Home. The drive is working fine regarding burning DVD's.
However, I can't read burned CD-R's in the drive. I can read burned DVD-R and DVD+R, I can read CD-RW, and I can read normal CD-ROM, but just not CD-R. It does not appear to be a disc issue, as these discs are easily read on various other PC's. This includes CD-R's burnt on other PC's as well as mine, using Nero, Roxio, and other programs. The drive currently has firmware 1.07. It shipped with 1.05. I upgraded the firmware during the course of this troubleshooting, so the problem existed prior to the upgrade.
When I insert a CD-R, I am able to explore the drive-it just doesn't show any contents or a disc label for that matter. So it seems to at least recognize a disc is present. I'm thinking this is possibly a WinXP issue, but I've not been able to find anything while rummaging through the OS.
Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated!
Andrew
EDIT-Just wanted to add, this PC used to have Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 installed, but I uninstalled before installing the Pioneer drive and Nero software that came with it.
