Problem installing Nero

Hi, I downloaded a recent version of Nero with the serial and installed it. Then, aghhhh, it came up and told me that the serial was not genuine. So I deleted Nero and went into registery and cleared out all references to ahead and Nero. Now, when trying to install any version of Nero, I get a dreaded blue screen (winXP) and my system locks up. I went to ahead and downloaded the trial version and installed that, but with the same result. Computer locks up and I have to reboot. Other cd burning program , cdrwin, works perfectly !! Is there a Nero Cleaner type prog that I can use, or does it mean that if I want to use Nero I have to reformat ! Does anyone know please?
Many thanks

I had the serial # denied too, but I didn't remove Nero. I just found a working serial and Nero started working again. I am running Windows 2000 SP-2.

If you do a search in this forum you will find that Nero just plain sucks under WinXP. It's as buggy as hell.

I used to be a Nero fanatic under Win9x, but no longer. When you do your search, take note of CDR proggies that are recommended and work under XP.

My personal fav's are, NTI CD Maker and Stomp Record Now. But I still use CDRWin, CloneCD, and EAC as well.
