Outlook Express gives me the following message "An outlook store file may be damaged. Please use a utility such as
scandisk to verify and repair any damaged files.
Error number 0x800c0155" I have windows 98 second eddition. Any ideas?
Run the System File Checker and set it to look for changed updated or altered files.
If it finds any it will seek to replace them from the Windows 98 CD-Rom. It's easier to dump all the CAB files from the CD-Rom onto your hard drive if you have the room and then direct the file checker to that folder.
@ geoff Its not always a good idea to recommend someone to use SYSTEM FILE CHECKER espesh if they do not know what they are doing with it ....as the may replace dll files or updated newer system files that are required by some programs recently installed etc and may cause them to fail and make the problems worse and possibly add more headaches to the matter
I would go with "scaz69" here and try and fix the errors with SCANDISK first and then go from there as "infini" has already posted that windows 98 has offered the suggestion of using SCANDISK to fix the fault
Point taken VIPER_1069 but would replacing an Outlook file with the original cause any bother if indeed that was the cause of the trouble that infini had or if Scandisk failed to be the cure?
depends if hes using windows 98 that comes with outlook express 4 usually and has since upgraded to 5 and later to 6 then the files will of updated quite a lot with patches and bugfixes from the original installed ones ?!
