Problem in crating VCD--please..need help

I am trying to make VCDs from my video recorder. I tried to used both Windows movie maker and Ulead software for importing video to my PC. Then I made movie file in mpeg 1 format. I tried with importing movie in avi format and then converted it in mpeg through Tmpegnc too. All the process was successful and subsequently used Nero to get VCD. But my problem is that, VCDs prepared in all the cases plays in slow motion in VCD player..almost frame by frame. I am very confused about where things are going wrong:(. Please help me. BTW, the mpeg file I made is in PAL (25fps).

Thnaks in advance

Firsty welcome to the forum.

Does the MPG file play Okay on the PC before you burn it to CD ? When you did burn it with Nero, did you have to turn off compliance to burn it?

If it does play okay, then the problem probably lies with your DVD Player. But try burning at lower speed (4x is good) and try different CDR's as well as CDRW's.

Thanks for the welcome :)

It plays alright in PC and I used 4X writing speed. Should I try it with 2x? My VCD player plays all other VCDs properly. Any suggestion?

VCD Players tend to be very picky in that the movie must be absolutely 100% VCD. Make sure in Nero you have "Create Standard Compliant CD" ticked and if an error/warning comes up when you load the MPG file in, then dont go any further.

You can try 2x but I doubt it is the problem if your burning at 4x. Always woth a try but try a CDRW instead (save a coaster).

Else, I would recommend using VCDEasy to burn to VCD. The use of VCDEasy is decsribed in the DVD to VCD Tutorial at http://forum.cdrsoft.cc/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17356

Yes.."create standard compliant CD" is checked. You are right, I tried with 2X speed but result is same. Now, only option left is to try CD-RW. I will try and give you feedback.

But you know what? somehow I feel, it is something to do with format I am using??

I think I am near the solution. It is nothing to do with VCD creation but it is simply the problem with the avi file which has been created when improrting movie from my digital recorder. I used 25 fps frame speed, which doesn't give enough quality when converted to mpeg 1.

Does anybody know what frame speed should I select while importing movie from digital recorder? I have windows movie maker too which create *.wmv file while importing from digital recorder. Has anybody used this software? If yes, kindly tell me the experience.

Thanks in advance
