Prob to cut svcd movie

Hi,

For the first time, I've got the second disc of SVCD movie "Monsters&Cie" too big ( 796 MB - 834,682,880 Bytes )
So... I've used TMPEnc to cut the end of the movie... but I've lost the French Audio Stream !
(encoded movie has English and French audio stream + 2 SVCD subtitles)

Please, I need a clear answer on following 2 questions :

1) From what I've heard... we can put 800 MB SVCD Video on CD-R 80 MIN/700 MB... yes/no ?
(settings for bitrate in DVD2SVCD are : " Use X CD size 797 " ; I never had problem with these settings until now)

2) How to cut the movie to keep the 2 audio streams and all the subtitles ?

MANY THANKS to any help !

BBmpeg can cut mpg file and still keep 2 audio tracks

Once I put 840 mb on a 700mb/80min cdr, but have to burn at a lower speed. At 840 mb you are pushing it. You can safely put 820-830mb on a 700mb cdr disc.

To answer you 2nd question, you can use bbmpeg to cut your mpg file and still retain the 2 audio tracks.

Hi Chutieu,

Yes... but you're talking about overburning... and my standalone player
doesn't like this kind of cd-r !

But 796 MB is less than 800 MB... so why Nero says : "not enough space on cd-r" ?
(I'm always burning SVCD at spedd 4X)

I'll try bbmpeg to cut my mpg file !

Many thanks for your help

;)

Firstly, I would suggest using VCDEasy to burn your SVCD's instead of Nero.

Yes 796 is smaller than 800 but there is always an overhead when burning (S)VCD's. Update your DVD2SVCD to ver 1.1.0 Build 1, I've been using this version for the last 2 months and never produced a file 2 big to not fit to a 80min CD. Its an attchment at the bottom of this tutorial

where to get DVD2SVCD to ver 1.1.0 Build 1?

Chickenman,

Where did you get DVD2SVCD to ver 1.1.0 Build 1? Is it a beta test version?

Hi ChickenMan,

Just... updated to version 1.1.0 Build 1.

One more question : how can I cut SVCD files with bbMPEG.
I have only 3 progs (in DVD2SVCD/bbMPEG folder) : avi2mpg2.exe,
avi2mpg2_vfw.exe and RunbbMPEG.exe... I can't find a way to cut
mpg files with them ! ? ! ?

Thanks for your help !

The author regularly posts early versions in the forum at doom9 sites, I picked it up from there.

Demux the file with TMPGEnc (MPEG Tools section, Simple De-Mux). You then need to run avi2mpeg2 (thats the maim bbMPEG program, yep I know its all confusing !), hit the Start Encoding button, then Settings button. In Max Size (MB) enter in 795, then click on Input & Output Files tab. For Open PS enter a name of the file you wish to Save to, then in Open VS locate the *.mpv (or *.m2v) file and for Open AS 1 enter the *.mpa (or *.mp2) file. Click on Program Stream Settings Tab and select SVCD. Then clock OK then Start. In a few minutes you will have a 795 meg MPG and a small MPG of the bit it cut off.

Hope thats not to confusing.
Cheers.

Hi ChickenMan,

Ok I take notice of that... but as I can understand, it's not so powerful as Virtualdub...
I can cut a Divx movie at any frame (if I don't need the second part) or at a keyframe if a need all parts ;o)

In the meantime... I found an easy way to cut my mpg file (I don't need the last spitted file) : a simple split & join freeware (spaj.exe - 59 kb) did the job

It took me 130 seconds to cut 796 MB and I made only 5 trials to cut the wanted part of the movie !

:)

Good one, just remember though, I didnt recommend the use of bbMPEG ! TMPGEnc always works for me. :)

I would be very careful with using spaj.exe with any movie file, headers are not updated/adjusted, etc. It just cuts.
