Easy, stop making AVI's. !
Changing to DivX 3.11 rather than 5.x has solved some peoples av sync probs. Also, ripping out the audio from the DVD with DVD2AVI and converting to MP3 then muxing in with the encoded Video also helps others.

A DivX is an AVI. SVCD's folowing my tut NEVER have a/v sync problems, but you will need 2 CD's generally.
