Possible 0.3.0 bug. .BUP and .IFO files not the same

Every movie I've done so far with version .3 has come out fine except when I attempt to burn with Nero it complains the DVD files aren't compliant because the .BUP and .IFO files are not the same.

I manually delete the bup file, copy the ifo, and rename it to bup, and everything works fine.

Just thought I'd share.

Strange, I've stripped 3-4 dvd's with 030 and burned with ImgTool Burn (which uses the Nero 6.3.0.3 SDK) and got no complaint. Which version of Nero are you using?

I have had the same problem with two different versions of nero (one is 6.?.? and the other is 5.5.9.17. I opened the IFO and BUP files with a hexeditor and they are different. They are all different in the exact same way:

BUP files: 150: 00 00 00 00 _ 00 01 05 00 _ 65 6E 00 00 _ 00 00 00
IFO files: 150: 00 00 00 00 _ 00 01 00 00 _ 00 00 00 00 _ 00 00 00

I was wondering whether this has been resolved at all.

I had the same problem today as audi2honda.

DVDStripper 0.3.0
DVDDecrypter 3.2.1.0
IfoEdit 0.96
Nero 6.3.1.6

I understand your grievance but sadly I can't do anything about it as I'm not the programmer :(. I'm pretty sure it would be easy enough to fix as all you need to do is duplicate the IFO's once processing has finished

if TMG is around maybe he can do a quick mod and release an updated version

p.s. as for the 3 weeks you mention, according to the records you bought it at the end of November which is 2 months before 0.3.0 was released and support hasn't stopped, just new releases (for now) ;)

hi there,
i've got the same problem. nero comes up with these warnings:
Backup file 'VIDEO_TS.BUP' should be identical to 'VIDEO_TS.IFO'
Backup file 'VTS_01_0.BUP' should be identical to 'VTS_01_0.IFO'
DVD-Video files compliance test failed
my cyberhome 402 plays the dvd fine, but a friends amoisonic 8506f plays only 3 stripped chapters and stops.

what is the right source file? the .bup or the .ifo?

cheers,
halfie

possible bug

I have the same problem. In the mean time, I just created a batch file that I keep in my destination path called fixbup.bat. It has the following two lines:

erase video_ts\*.bup
xcopy video_ts\*.ifo video_ts\*.BUP

I just have to remember to click on it before I launch Nero, or at least before I tell Nero which files to use. It may not be a fix, but it's only one extra click and the problem is gone until the fix is done.

After I copied the IFO's to the BUP files, I tried to burn the DVD with Nero again. I got a warning again: "DVD-Video files reallocation failed. The resulting DVD-Video might be unplayable. Do you want to continue?"

Thanks for the batch file idea. I had the same problem, but I use DVDStripper as a splitter and not a stripper.

I have a modified version of your batch file to put in the destination directory to work with split discs and/or stripped discs:

fixbup.bat:

erase video_ts\*.bup
xcopy video_ts\*.ifo video_ts\*.BUP
erase DISC1\video_ts\*.bup
xcopy DISC1\video_ts\*.ifo DISC1\video_ts\*.BUP
erase DISC2\video_ts\*.bup
xcopy DISC2\video_ts\*.ifo DISC2\video_ts\*.BUP
