Port scan

I was checking a dslreports.com for my new dsl..and tryed to get a port scan..It says to..see results...etc......Do i need to have a java for that..How i can enable..Help is more then needed here....

Yes

You can install the MS Java or the Sun Java, it's up to you

Ms has stopped bundling their java.
You can get suns java 1.4.2 from here if you like

I installed that suns java...rebooted.....enabled java in all internet options.....same thing....Any more ideas.....How can i uninstall this and install ms java??Can that help??

In IE:

Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, Microsoft VM -> enable (check the box) for JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled.

IE = Internet Explorer (version 6 in XP)....

Use the Top menu of IE called " tools " ...

Again, you found the menu; now scroll down to:

The " Microsoft VM " area (Accessibility and Browsing in your screenshot are also " areas ") - You have to use the scroll bar to go down to that area.

Find the " JIT compiler for virtual machine" and check the box to enable it.

Also you should be able to install ms java and choose(same place) if you want to use sun(for applet) or not. No need to uninstall

Wierd! it really should be. Try opening the java plugin config from control panel there its an option to enable for ie. Maybe something got screwed when installing, perhaps try reinstalling?? Dont remember what its called, but isnt there somewhere to choose the default browser, e-mail, java etc(in xp and win2k sp3/4). Something with options like : choose current or system standard, dont know if it will have any effect but check that one out too

Ms java in my opinion should be avoided if possible

lol. If you did a clean install with winXP SP1a then you will be lacking java. Have a look here:
