Appen the some with the 40x to anybody else?

Plextor

It is never a good idea to record audio at high speeds. Plextor recommends 4 x for audio, whatever media is used.

I know, but writing audio at 24x I have no problem with my Plextor, cds are read everywhere and sounds good.
you can notice the difference of speed writing only in high class cd player or hi-fi not in common cd player and hi-fi.
is for this reason that i write at high speed and I've asked if someone have problem with 40x plextor or 48x (I don't know if is available in some country).

4x is recommended by PLEXTOR as this is the speed the the VARI-REC technology works :D and no other
also it varies on the MEDIA used some supposed hi write rated MEDIA will simply NOT burn at max speed no matter what you try and also it depends on a few other factors like processor speed /amount of ram you have and how fast yer hard drive can spool the data to the burner and how badly FRAGMENTED the drive you are burning from ! :( its a good idea to DEFRAG after a few burns to keep yer drive running at optimum rates of transfer :)
