PlexWriter 40/12/40A(U)

Heya all.. I dunno if anyone can help, I tryed the support at Plextor but they don't even respond to mail.

I have this nifty burner and it is supposed to be able to burn cd-r 40x but when I put a Maxell cd-r 80xl in that is supposed to be able to take cd-r 32x I can only get it to burn 24x

When checking the compability list on Plextor Maxell aint even on the list..

Is there any way I can ( convince ) the burner to burn full speed? At least maximum speed of the cd-r media?

Please help me out and I'd prefere not to run äny beta or cracked bios upgrades or some crap like that..:)

Speed Reduction

I believe that the Plextor PoweRec function is limiting the write speed of the media. Read about the PoweRec function on the Plextor website. You can override the feature in Nero, and burn any disc at full speed, but I recommend letting the feature do its job. The overall burn time is not reduced enough to take the chance of getting an unusable disc. Remember the Zoned CLV doesn't jump to 40X until about 2/3 of the way through anyway.

Thankz alot..

Thankyou for the replyes..

I sure will try to use nero then.. But i belive that Plextor should update their media list more often..

I mean Maxell cd-r's are really great media..

Thankz again..:)

Well it might be crappy media but I havn't nuked a single cd in my plextor using maxell cd-r media.. Using Kodak and other shitty media however couses some problems some times.. Also i am running the new 1.03 from Plextor..:) Still no luck with maxell however..:(

But hey, I can live with cd's burin 24x and allways succesfull burns.. I just thought you guys knew some trick to get it to burn faster on cd's it doesn't recognice..:)

Kodak stopped last year. Absolutely spot on about TDK crap though. Wouldn't touch em with a bargepole.
My Plex 24x seems quite OK with any make of media, some burn slower thats all.
