Plextor 708A Read Speed SLOW

I have the PLEXTOR 708A (ultra dma enabled) I am only getting about 6x read speed when using DVD Decrypter and ripping a DVD to my harddrive. It should be upwards of 12x maybe reality of 8-10x but definatley more then 6x. Any suggestions? I used the hold the eject button trick to boost it up from 2x.

Welcome to the forum!If it's dual layer you will get slower speeds, 6X is acceptable.It is a common problem with most drives.Single layer will always rip faster.Everything is fine.

In fact 6X reading is simply GREAT for a DVD burner. If you want faster than that you should slot in a 16X DVD-ROM too which will reduce the strain from your burner.
