O.K

I know this is probably going to be a couple of stupid questions
but i dont know the awnsers.

O.K to start-

What is a DVD, I know what it stands for
and i know that they ar discs
but i mean are they mpeg 1,2,3,4???

Also i downloaded a few files of the simpsons like adverts and unseen stuff
and they are either in MPEG video, AVI video
Some of AVI ones say DIV X
and i was wondering how to convert them so i can
play them in my Playstation 2 and DVD players.

In brief terms dvd are mpeg2 files mpeg4 is divx/avi files.To play the avi files on your ps2 or dvd palyer you will need to convert them to dvd compliant files first.See the tuts section on how to do this.

You know what DVD stands for? As far as I know the DVD forum couldn't even agree on that.

As said DVD's are MPEG2 (the video anyway), although the specs also in theory support MPEG1.

DivX is an implimentation of MPEG4 video compression, AVI is a container format. MPEG4 specs cover much more than just video. Should point out though that lots of online DivX content is still DivX3 which isn't actually MPEG4 despite being a hack of a codec called Microsoft MPEG4.

PS2's can to some degree play DivX AVI's as can some DVD players.

I would also suggest that you check out the tute section. You might also want to try a more descriptive title next time.

I have 3 dvd's and they start with the words-

THANK YOU FOR PURCHASING THIS 'DIGITAL VERSITILE DISC'

so how come u's cant agree what it stands for???
