totally new to all this but i need some advise.

read thru all posts b4 i'd ask but unabkle to find anything so now its come to me having to ask someone.

with all these diff file formats that are about can someone tell me which file format is the end product that makes a dvd watchable?

for example i have some movie files i've d/loaded from winmx in media player format ....do i have to convert them to a specific format b4 i burn them to disc or do mpegs and avi burn straight to disc?

thanks for any help

VOBS are the main files for DVD compatible files :)

mpegs will play in some players as will divx/xvid but you would need a DIVX capable/specific dvd player for DIVX/XVID :)

if your player does not support mpegs or divx/xvid then you will need to follow our guides to convert them to a dvd format that will play in your machine :)

erm...okay not heard of vob b4 ..i'm using nero 6

is burning the movie onto disc as an ISO format the same?

If burnt as ISO (as data) no thats an image file <> a DVD needs AUDIO_TS folder (empty) & the VOBs etc in a VIDEO_TS folder but if the ISO is the image of a DVD then it can be burnt as a DVD
