Play ripped DVD's on a sony Viao

I have recently purchased a Sony Viao PCG-F709 which has a DVD Rom drive and is running Windows 98 Second edition. I have been given some ripped dvds from a friend but the dont seem to play on the laptop. Does anyone know if there is a patch etc that I can download to make them play.

Any help will be much appreciated.

This MIGHT do it.

Expect thread to be closed ... ripping DVDs for your OWN use is justified, but sharing them around is definitely illegal.
