PIONEER DVR-A06U Drive Problem - Not reading discs in XP
Hi all,
I have a problem with a recently purchased Pioneer DVR-A06U drive. I am running Windows XP sp1 Intel 2.26 Pentium IV. I have upgraded to the latest firmware (1.07 from the pioneer site).
If I boot the computer without a CD/DVD in the drive, then the drive refuses to read any disc (these are known to be good) placed in the drive. Explorer will spin the CD icon, but believes the drive is empty when accessed. The drive appears in Windows and no errors are being logged (that I can find).
However, if I boot the computer with a disc in the drive, then it behaves as is should and I can burn, read, play movies, etc. I can read all the discs that did not work before (see above). Everything is visible in Windows just like any other CD/DVD drive. I can swap discs and use them all normally.
This problem occurs only when the computer is booted without a CD/DVD in the drive. It is an annoyance. I formerly had a LG CD Burner in this slot in the computer and experienced none of these problems. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
