Pioneer DVR-A05 with PS2 and DVD

I was planning on buying the new Pioneer DVR-A05 BUT I have a few questions!

I have a PS2 with a MOD chip that plays DVD-R media. (it is a messiah chip) Can I just rent PS2 games and somehow do bit-to-bit* copies of them? I understand most PS2 DVD games are CSS protected....what DVD writing software can read and write that format? Or do I have to download large DVD images of cracked games with that CSS protected removed? I have an ISP with monthly download limits, so downloading large humongous files would be a problem. :(

Also I assume you can't just copy DVD movies due to their protection. But what about region free DVD movies? Can they at least be copied without any hassles? Also if you RIP a DVD on to your HD....can those files be written on to a DVD-R or DVD-RW and still somehow run a DVD player connected to your TV? Like just forget about the fancy DVD menus and all the bonus bits.....but just pop up a menu of files of the main movie VOB files, which you can select and simply run.

* in mean, like a perfect duplicate of the original disc

Good choice

I have a Messiah chip in my v5 PAL PS2, by far the best chip (excluding Messiah 2) for the PS2. PS2 DVD based games are not protected. Use Prassi PrimoDVD or Stomp RecordNow Max or Nero to create fully working backups of your PS2 originals.

Yes, you can make backup copies of your DVD movie originals. I use smartripper/dvd decryptor and Nero/Primo. You may need to play the movie on your machine for several seconds to unlock files (only done a few myself). Tutorials can be found on www.doom9.net

hope that this helps

If you have any DVD-R/RW IDE drive in your PC, used DVDXCopy. Since the PS2 is a DVD format. All is about the same writing media.
