Here it is! :D

Thanks to >NIL: at http://forum.firmware-flash.com/ for his excellent work on this!

OK, here's my release version of the patched 1.33 firmware.

This patch includes:
- RPC-1 (region Free)
- 2x4all DVD-R's
- 12xrip for pressed DVD's (no rip speed limitation)
- patched upgdvd.exe that doesn't force you to downgrade or to flash a non RPC-1 firmware (when flashing from windows. DOS mode has not been patched)

Fantastic news, but 1x are now hard to buy in Oz. The 2x are the same price as the old 1x so less important now for me.

For people who don't want to go through the whole thread.

As you say CM, not so important any more really. 4X discs are now almost the same price in the UK as 1X DVD-R's right now too. I think that the unlocked drive rip speed is prolly of more importance now.

Help!!!

Hi all, I am new to this so if this doesn't turn out right please don't shoot me. I have a question about this new firmware. I flashed my Pioneer A05 drive with the newest 1.33 right from Pioneers site before I found the 2x4all firmware update. I tried to reflash with the 2x4all, it said it completed but the firmware did not change as I checked with the firmware checker before and after. Is there a way to get the 2x4all fw to replace the one from Pioneer's site? The reason is this: I am trying to get it to rip dvd's with dvdecrypter faster than 2x but have had no success. Any help would be appreciated.

It rips at 2x and burns at 4x but I have a friend that has the Cendyne version of the A05, the 105 and it at least rips over 4x. So... My question is can I go back to a different fw then reflash to the 2x4all fw, or can I get the 2x4all to reflash over the Pioneer 1.33 fw?

You need to run the 1.33 2x4all upgrade from the DOS/Command Prompt, not directly from Windows. Also best to do it all from the Root directory of a HD.

2x4all load from DOS - unsuccessful

Thanks for the reply chicken man, I tried that two different times without it working. First I booted from a Win ME boot disk that I downloaded from the same site as the 2x4all file and when I ran the 2x4all it gave a "buffer" error. I then booted from a Win 98SE cd and it gave me a msg "if you want to update this firmware you must update this utility". So I still have the 1.33v from Pioneer's site. I found out that I did not have dma enabled on the cd drive so enabled booted and it has ultra dma enabled and the rip time increased to be 4 - 5x. The first time I ripped, as this is brand new for me, it ripped at 2x and the first movie, "Saint", took 34:22 to rip. After enabling dma on the cd it went to 12:53 to rip. A big difference. So If I never get the 2x4all to work I can live with the way it rips right now. Thanks again, and any other ideas to get the 2x4all to work I will try.

The 2x4all is becoming less important for most people now anyway. There is almost no 1x media availlable to write at 2x. As you have another drive for ripping, then use your burner to burner only. Only thing that may be of use is the Region free (or RCP1) option, but again you have another drive so patch that and keep the burner as a burner then its never an issue.
