Pioneer 107 versus Memorex True 8X

Greetings,

All right, I am about to get one of these two DVD Burners. They look very much alike spec wise.

Does anyone have any serious problems with either of these two? I am not a big burner, but would like a dependable machine that won't be obsolete tomorrow.

I am kinda leaning toward the Memorex cause I can get it easier and it's got a bigger rebate.

I guess I am on my own.

You have been somewhat helpful with other enquiries. I was hoping to add some personal experience when I got up and running/burning.

These forums are a good way to solve problems and help others.

Oh yeah, when people are at least somewhat interested in helping. Guess I'll try another forum.

Its a matter of opinion really I cant help except to say I have a Pioneer 106 & if the 107 is on the same lines ( & Im sure it is) get the Pioneer!!

Wow talk about a attitude!!!
Maybe if you did a search you will find a lot of info so you can make an intelligent choice!!
Try key words in the search:
Pioneer, 107
Considering there is'nt a lot of info on the Memorex True 8X I would say its not a proving drive!
But how long has it been out???

That 2nd post of yours Jumbo was a bit over the top.It might have been a case of not many people seeing it due to the times it was posted.Please give us a chance before you write something like that in the future.Back to your question I have had the Pionner 105,106 and now have the 107 and Im very happy with it.

What a attitude....Difference between posts is 18 hours..I guess mods should introduce some special service for people who cant wait like you...And imho i would be very happy to see your back

i don't get all the answers i need right away but i think it was over the top my self.

I can understand folks like Jumbo1 point of view I do :)
It would seem many just won't to buy/install which every the case may be the goods and get it up and running right away...
Now in the real world as we are thinks happen and you just have to wait for a reply to your question. And as bertieg and many others pointed out you just have to give us a chance to reply.
Now I've tested both these drives and I own a Pio 107 now and both for mi are di Bomb...The only thing I dislike about the Memorex is the two tone finish.
If you can buy a Memorex or Asus DRW-0804P cheaper then the Pio 107 do so and use firmware v 1.05 or 1.10 with the drive....
Where not here to knock you but to help you if and when we can....

Hang on here a minute guys ....... who said Jumbo1 was a man ?

and as for the change of mood in 18 hours ...... haven't you heard of that special few days each month, that my missus tells me about ?
...... when I ask her (during her special few days) why dinner takes 3 hours to cook ..... she says .. " COS IT DOES !!!!" :D

Jeez. What an attitude from Jumbo1. It's that sort of attitude that get's peoples backs up. The next time he/she/it wants advice they should head on down to high street shops and ask the guy behind the counter what's best. Personaly I would lock there account and ban them. It's down to sites like this that keeps us patient folk happy/informed on the Backup scene and feel like we are part of an online community.

Keep up the good work you guys and don't let the b'#stards drag you down.
