RITEK G04 media :)

you may also have to use the hacked firmware but heed the warnings of the forum about firmware updating and we WARN that IF it goes wrong then you MAY end up with a DEAD burner :(

99.9% of the time firmware updates will work flawless but ... and i say but for the 1% of unlucky people it may go wrong :(

we HAVE to WARN you just in case :)

not without putting it in a machine and running diagnostics !?

could be ANY depending when the actual date the drive was manufactured :)

you need the standard 1.18 hacked firmware you need this version DVR-107Dv1.18-RPC-1+12xRip nx4all

you do not need to use any other firmware :)

:)

Sorry m8 didnt know that,
I stopped at 1.16 cause I knew that was
8x for all,
Now that I know and since I only use RITEK
I will upgrade myself

Genuine 8x media is not that much dearer than quality 4x

DVD-R media, from the forun sponsor
1. Datawrite DVD-R Classic 8x (Ritek) - other source put this as Fujifilm 03
Also in printable

DVD+R media, from the forum sponsor....
1. Datawrite Classic 8x +R - £11.16 a 25 tub (according to another Source, could be Prodisc R03)
2. Infiniti 8x +R (Infiniti often uses Sony ID)

I forgot to add...

An "8x for all" tweak will allow you to TRY to do 8x on any media .... getting a usable result is a different matter - ideally you need to evaluate the result by PI/PO measurement.

eg. http://cdspeed2000.com/go.php3?link=cdspeed30.html

But the Pioneer writers are not supported for measurement, so the best you can measure is only a basic level read error test.

One report for the very cheap Datawrite Red V3 has it as working at 8x in a Pioneer 107 - not even mentioning a speedhack, despite this being 4x media.
PI/PO error rates increased at the end at 4x, a bit more so at 6x, and the 8x zone at 8x was poorer, but all burns were usable - but probably better to be thankful for 6x, rather than pushing it to a poorer 8x

What I gather from reading about Datawrite Red V3 (infosmart), is that this cheap media can give reasonable results IF your drive likes it, whereas the ever popular Ritek G04 dye works well in most drives (comment on the Datawrite Red V3 - if your drive doesn't like Infosmart, go for the Yellow V2 - Ritek dye, instead).

Budget media is a bit of a lottery!

Just a note there seems to be a switch to meet demand and or quality from many players (Brand) out in the media front. Where let's just say Brand A may of one time used media made or out sourced by Ritek and now using let's say Taiyo Yuden and keeping the same or near as packaging.
All I'm sayin' is you can't always go by brand names or packaging. There has been reports on cyberspace of so called counterfeit/low/ or very poor quality media being sold as the Bomb (figure of speech folks) the best. Or a change over in the batch of the same media may relate to better or low qualities in said media. To meet demand for consumers or to gain profits there will always be a trade off it's trial and error now!..
Anyway if you do use 4x rated media to burn above its rated speed in this case 6x I feel should be the max.

And if you find that your media are being used as beer mat's (due to error burns) it may well need an firmware upgrade to correct the problem........as many firmware add new media support to its updates. :)
