pioneer 105 problem

running xp,been burning no probs except for this week,it keeps crashing on about 1% and comes up with a error.imaging to drive first.its not the media as i have tried about 4 types all ritek.tried a new hardrive with minmum on it,all defragged,and scandisked,not running any thing in background,still does audio ok.
using recordmax and copy2dvd.

I was going to say welcome to the forum, but I see your been a member for a long time :D Welcome anyway.

I would check that your ASPI layer has not been clobbered with something.

I had similar problems to this. The laser on the 105 degraded and ended up only burning @ x2. Try burning at the lower speed, if that works it sounds like the laser is on its way out. Are you getting the same problem with copy2dvd. If you are have a look at the log file when burning. If the error says something about dirty media then I do suggest it is the laser. If your 105 is under a year old contact your dealer, get an RMA and send it back. I've came across a few people with the same problem I had and all have had their writers replaced. I think pioneer have stopped producing 106s now so you might be lucky and get a 107 as a replacement. :D
