The Oriskany, a decommissioned aircraft carrier, was sunk 24 miles off the coast of Pensacola, Fla., on May 17 to form an artificial reef.

It has happened accidentally many times (ships sinking) & this is not the first time a ship has been sunk to start a reef<> hope it continues

I dought it. See the price for scap metal is very high right now, probably the only thing thats high now besides the Monkey.

I guess it could have gone for scrap metal, but this might be a more honerable thing for a ship they could not afford to keep afloat any longer.

It is but all the good stuff is ripped out & the bare Hull & superstructure goes to the bottom <> but it works <> marine life turns them into a home from home <> takes a few years but it does work
