Photoshop 7 spyware?

Any comments on Photoshop 7 containing spyware? And if so , can I disable that "phonehome"function??Dont know if this is false or what but perhaps some of you mates know the story.........

There was alot of worries concerning this mostly for no reason. As long as you don't try the online product update and have a Firewall to block Adobe you should be OK.

I also run Ad-Aware and or Pest Patrol as soon as I install new apps - you never know what little beauties they've hidden in some files ;)

Hmmz, I got it installed since quite some time ...
Blocking the access to www with a firewall is a good idea ..
And if you are afraid about spyware, get Ad.Aware, latest version is @ cdrsoft.cc :)

Rumers are easy spread..but I agree with Oldy..I always check my system with AdAware and Pest Patrol after an new install. And if it´s a warez download then Tauscan and F-Secure are used as well.
However I have Photoshop 7 installed and so far no attempts to phone home.

The thread about Adobe collecting information like M$ or adobe has spyware was a joke which was posted in a forum which spread like wild fire.

The news was picked up on a news/tech website which asked adobe and they stated that none of their products was coded with spyware and they do not collect information about peoples computers...

They stated if they did , they would of posted the information on their website, which at the moment has no mention of any information about such things....

Guess it shows that the internet is a powerful medium...etc, etc, etc :D :D :D

DAMN...just read the whole thread and POKO beat me to it  :p

G'day M8s,

Interesting thread, as I asked about the same ques. before reading all the posts.
Anyway, having read through everything I will assume the "PS7 phone home" tactic is truely a hoax. But have seen, on another board, a link (dead now) for a PS7 anti-spy patch, about 500k in size. It does make you wonder, and just because Adobe said they didn't place antispy routines in PS7 doesn't mean it's true.
