Photoshop 6 text problems

Hi folks,

I'm printing out a CD cover using photoshop 6. I thought all my quality setting were set to "max" but the text will not print sharp. There's a shadow around each letter

I've no problems using Microsoft Publisher and I'm not using any web type fonts. Any ideas?

About CD cover, you may want to use the program designs specific for CD cover like SureThing which will handle CD cover much easier, faster, and better than MS Publisher, Photoshop, word processor, Corel and the alike.

About the printing quality, it often depends on the printer's setting, paper etc. I use Epson Photo (inkjet) printer to print graphics, portraits etc. and the quality is often better than the print from regular 35mm camera (the digital images print by photolab always better than by inkjet). And I don't print text to know much about it.

Anyway, I am Photoshop user and do use Photoshop for retouching (some days I do hundreds of them before send to Wal-Mart for printing) and printing.

have you checked your dpi?...try and set your dpi to 300?...

72 dpi is good for for web design and all...but the higher the dpi the better the print quality?...

have you checked that your fonts works with the printer?

hope this helps...I don't print enough graphix to help :( and not a graphics/designer to know anything about printing jobs

Yeah, it's set to 300 dpi for printing. The fonts are OK on both a lexmark Z42 and Z52.

I had the font set to "crisp" in Photoshop, I'll go back and try a smoother setting...and see if that helps.

Smoothing didn't work:( It's definitely a Photoshop problem because I tried printing out a notepad document...everything's perfect.

I'll maybe go back to Surething Cd Labeler.....
FortiTude: Amazing website!! love the images...they shall grace my desktop for ages!!:)

I'm away to bed it's 4.34AM:eek:
