Yes,newer versions of Nero,Dvd decrypter,Copytodvd.Dvdshrink to author.There may be others,but these are upgraded for DL burning.

i also have one of these dvd writers and it just doesnt read any blank media when trying to burn can any one please advise me

Welcome to the forum!Please advise what software and operating system you are using.Make sure it is dvd+r,and not dvd-r media.Media brands might help us too.

wow finley found you guys crd soft down and you got the info i have been looking for on my burner will let you know how it burns whin i get the dvd+rdl media :D

First time user of this Forum ... need to find out "HOW?" to located, get, acquire the lastes "firm ware" for my Philips DVD8601?!? It won't work with Adobe Premier Pro ... at least NOT on my computer ... a NEW Dell XPS system.

as you see,there are almost 2 minutes between the read completion and the burn....

also it wasnt from a p2p network it was from my disk have been wanting to try the duel layer function on this bunner to see if it worked and it works great backed up several disks only draw back is the price :eek: and the fact it wont do -dvr's or record them


I would not recommend it yet (not while still under warranty), but it appears the Philips 8601 is a BENQ OEM - with possibilities of a hack-update to Benq 1600-1620

was going to do the benq mod but it works good now so i will live with it untill waranty goes out then i might try it.
and if its in iso rip shouldnt it burn to a +dvr or -dvr and play?? i'll have to try that and see. but the backups are just like the orignal except region free option was used
so far i used sonic, dvd decripter,dvdxcopy even the burn disk in windows media player seems to work with it and b's gold havent tryed nero yet :rolleyes:
