Patch for latest worm

Could anyone help me on the following;

I'm currently running a copied version of XP.

I've also managed to pick that worm up, which is doing the rounds.
(ie: jeopodising pc to hackers, etc, etc)

Well, my question/s are: 1) Will the Microsoft patch work on a copied version of XP? & 2) If it doesn't, is there a patch/add-on that will allow me full access to Microsoft's patches & updates.
